Biography

Prof. Bernard Ghanem is a Full Professor in the Computer Science Program and Principal Investigator of the Image and Video Understanding Lab (IVUL) at KAUST. His research is at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and mathematical optimization, specializing in video analysis and temporal action localization.

  • Automatic recognition of human activities and actions in untrimmed video datasets.
  • 3D reconstruction and semantic understanding of complex physical scenes.
  • Developing light-weight deep neural networks for real-world robotics and autonomous systems.
